ABOUT US

The Tea College originated from the Tea Research Department established in 1936 within the College of Agriculture of the Provincial Anhui University. Upon its establishment, the College of Agriculture of the Provincial Anhui University prioritized the improvement of tea production technology in the province as its research focus. In May 1936, the Provincial Anhui University sent Professor He Junfeng from the College of Agriculture to Japan to investigate tea improvement, with a focus on studying Japan's new legal tea production techniques (the expenses were covered under the study abroad funding of the Provincial Education Department). Professor He Junfeng studied and advanced his knowledge in Japan for half a year. Upon his return, he established the Tea Research Department within the College of Agriculture of Anhui University and trained instructors from vocational schools and tea technicians from agricultural and forestry farms in Anhui Province. In September 1952, during the nationwide adjustment of departments and faculties, the Tea Specialty of Fudan University was transferred to the College of Agriculture of Anhui University. On October 20, 1953, the name of Anhui University was abolished, and the College of Agriculture of Anhui University became independent as Anhui Agricultural College.
